Toll Changes Coming in 2027 for Seven Bay Area Bridges

toll increase 2026

Starting January 1, 2027, the Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, San Mateo-Hayward, and SF-Oakland Bay bridges will adopt a tiered toll rate structure aimed at encouraging more customers to pay electronically with FasTrak® toll tags. Because payment with FasTrak carries lower administrative costs than payment through a license plate account or by returning payment with an invoice received in the mail, customers will pay a premium for using a pre-registered license plate account or for invoiced tolling. Drivers paying their bridge tolls with a FasTrak toll tag will get the lowest rate – saving $1 on every toll compared to paying by invoice.

The new tiered pricing structure was approved by BATA in late 2024 and delayed to 2027 to give customers ample time to sign up for FasTrak.

FasTrak toll tags are available online, by phone at 877-BAY-TOLL and in-person at select stores. A FasTrak tag pays tolls automatically from a prepaid account. Customers can add money to their FasTrak account by cash, check, or credit/debit cards.
